This is the dilemma facing Emma Tanner on a buying trip to Charleston, SC
for her antiques store in Texas. Can the de ja vue feelings have anything
to do with that new acquisition in the store back home...and the strange
vibes that came with it...and why can't Emma see anyone every time she
looks over her shoulder, especially with the constant feeling she is being
followed?
Emma and her business partner Sharon meet quite a cast of characters while
in Charleston. During their visit, Emma is haunted by visions of the past.
Much to the chagrin of her partner Mandy, Emma decides to remain in
Charleston when Sharon returns home. Emma learns that each of her new
friends can interpret bits and pieces of the visions for her, but one in
particular holds more answers than the others. During her extended visit,
Emma learns of past events from the late 1800's that make her re-evaluate
her life...and her floundering relationship...

Pre-release reviews
I was anxious to read Glenda Poulter’s second novel, Out of the Past, and
was honored when Glenda asked me to read it and do a pre-release review. I
was not disappointed. The details in both character & settings (and in
this case historical bits) drew me into the story right away. The
nightmare that opens the story is interesting, and then Emma's reaction/
feeling after running her hands over the lady’s closet made my eyebrow go
right up (which, if you know me, is a really, really good sign) and I
wanted to find out what was going on and what it all meant. Just as in her
first novel, Glenda created excellent supporting characters that I fell in
love with (Lesley, Peter and Beau *heart*). I wanted to follow them around
like a puppy. BUT they did not overshadow Emma and what she was going
through. Everything had balance. I get the feeling Glenda really loves
Charleston and what she wrote came from that and not just research.

Oh goody, another Glenda Poulter book! I
finally got Welcome Home and it's my favorite lesbian fiction. Not
because she's my online friend, but because it's the best written, with a
plot that made it hard to put down, as I can see Out of the Past will be
too.

OK, I am loving this book! Lesbian fiction
or not, the general story line is right up my alley. Past life experiences
are fascinating. Funny how a couple hundred words can grab you and reel
you in. It is definitely on my wish list.
